Welcome to Children on the Mend, Inc., a non-profit 501 (c) (3) charity organization.
Mission
To impact the lives of young people by providing adult support and learning opportunities that promote character development and life-enhancing values.
Children on the Mend Inc. (COTM) is a non-profit organization that has been making a difference since 2000. Our mission is to advocate for youth and young adults who face challenges such as social influences and emotional volatility, often exacerbated by incarceration and high-risk environments. With a board that has over thirty years of combined experience in legal, criminal justice, and social services, we are committed to providing the necessary support. COTM specializes in teaching cognitive-behavioral skills, which help young people improve their decision-making, self-esteem, and stress management. Our outreach efforts include mentoring in schools, community service projects, and health fairs, all aimed at empowering our youth and fostering a healthier community.
While we focus on improving the quantity of supportive relationships and networks, we are equally committed to ensuring that these mentoring experiences are high-quality. Research suggests that when mentoring is done haphazardly, it can be more harmful to young people than having no mentor at all.
